Types of Operating System

An operating system is software that is responsible for the management of various activities of the computer and the sharing of computer resources. It hosts the several application that run on a computer and handles the operating of computer hardware
Operating systems can be divided into two main classes
Single user operating system
Multi user operating system

A single users operating system is a type of operating system (OS) that will only have a single users at any given time. This is the most common type of OS used on a home computer, as well as on computers in office and other work environments.
Example of single user OS include: MS DOS windows.

Multi users operating system differs from a single a users system in that each users is accessing the same OS at different machines. A multi users operating system is often used in business and office where different users need to access the same resources. But these resources cannot be installed on every system. In a multi user operating systems the OS must be able to handle the various needs and request of all of the user effectively
